SECURITY AWARENESS
ACT Awareness
Counter-terrorism awareness for public-facing teams — recognising suspicious behaviour, understanding how threats present, and knowing exactly what to do next.
Course overview
Public-facing teams are the people most likely to notice when something is not right. They know their site, their rhythms and their regulars — which means they notice the person who does not fit the pattern long before anyone else does.
This session turns that instinct into something structured. Delegates learn how hostile reconnaissance actually looks in a working environment, what to do with a concern that feels too small to report, and how to act calmly and proportionately when it matters.
Who it's for
Security officers, retail and centre teams, reception and facilities staff, and anyone working in a busy public-facing environment.
What participants will learn
How threats develop, and where frontline observation fits into stopping them
Recognising suspicious behaviour without profiling people
Hostile reconnaissance — what it looks like on a live site
Reporting a concern properly, including the ones that feel minor
Responding to a suspicious item or vehicle
What to do in a fast-moving incident, and how to help others do the same
Key outcomes
Teams that notice more and report earlier
Concerns raised through the right channel, first time
Calmer, more consistent responses under pressure
A clearer shared vocabulary between officers and managers
Course format
Sessions are live and trainer-led throughout. Content is delivered in short blocks, each followed by discussion and structured scenario work, so delegates practise rather than only listen. Group sizes are agreed in advance to protect the amount of participation each person gets.
What makes FRG different
This programme is written from operational experience rather than adapted from a generic template. The scenarios come from real frontline environments, the language is the language your teams use, and where you can share your own context we build the session around it. The aim is not a certificate — it is a team that handles the next incident better than the last one.
